CIVIL ENGINEER BRIDGE DESIGN PROJECT ENGINEER
Project Engineer (3 positions available) for Janssen & Spaans Engineering, Inc. in Indianapolis, IN to apply knowledge of AASHTO code, bridge design, finite element analysis, and structural steel design to design various components of pre-stressed concrete and steel bridges (beams/girders, deck, bearings, end bents, piers, joints, edge beams) using Leap Concrete Bridge & other applicable software; compute geometric properties of bridges including beam seat elevations, haunches, and screed elevation; design retaining walls and other structures; detail/review bridge design plans; perform load rating of bridges using AASHTOware BrR & DESCUS; assist in construction engineering; execute cost and quantity estimation; perform shipping and handling analysis; and review shop drawings. REQUIRED: Master’s degree in civil engineering (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) with emphasis in structures. Specific skills/other requirements: Knowledge of bridge design, structural steel design, finite element analysis, and AASHTO code gained through at least six months of work or study.
