JSE provided construction engineering services with design calculations and erection drawings required to erect this 2-span covered wood truss bridge. This project is the biggest infrastructure project in Holmes County, Ohio.

JSE developed a plan to assemble the four individual trusses (2 per span) in a staging area adjacent to the bridge and subsequently erect them one at a time. Each truss was 20 ft tall, 150 ft long and weighed 168,000 lbs. assembled. JSE’s plan provided the step-by-step procedures for erection, bracing and subsequent construction of the bridge.

To check the structural adequacy of the bridge during all stages of erection and construction, JSE developed a full 3-D finite element model of the bridge and checked it against applicable loads. JSE also checked all the rigging and pick point locations as well as providing positioning of cranes during the critical picks.
